Four authors in the New York chapter of Mystery Writers of America (MWA-NY) will read aloud from their work at 7 p.m. on Tuesday September 29, in the bookstore/café Bibliotheque in SoHo.

Mariah Fredericks was born, raised, and still lives in New York City. A graduate of Vassar College with a degree in history, she is the author of the Jane Prescott mystery series, which has twice been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award. Her first standalone novel, Lindbergh Nanny, was nominated for the Agatha and Anthony Awards. She will read from Murder on 34th Street, which revolves around Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in 1932, and which will have its official launch on October 13th.

Tom Coffey lives in lower Manhattan. He grew up on Staten Island, attended the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and retired in 2023 from a long career at The New York Times. The author of six mystery novels, he will be reading from his seventh: Stop and Frisk, the conclusion of his Devine Trilogy, which will be published in April by Level Best Books.

Yvonne Ventresca is an award-winning author with an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Her work includes the young-adult novels Pandemic and Black Flowers, White Lies, as well as two nonfiction books and several short stories. She serves on the Board of MWA-NY and mentors other writers. She will read from her debut adult thriller If I’m Gone, which Poisoned Pen Press will publish next May.

Hal Glatzer lives in Hell’s Kitchen. He has been a published member of MWA since 1986, and of Sisters in Crime since 1999. He currently serves as Secretary on the Board of MWA-NY. This year, he took a break from his controversial three-book Friends With Benefits series to write a fourth book in his Katy Green series. Katy is a working musician in the years leading up to World War II, whose gigs lead her into mysteries. He will read from this new book, Old Arrangements, which is set in upstate New York in 1938.

The Author Readings will start at 7 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m.  Bibliotheque is at 54 Mercer Street, in SoHo.
